A Bit About Your Postpartum Doula

Hello! I'm Markie Novotny, owner and postpartum doula with Pink Skies Doula Care. I believe all new mothers and families are a top priority in every community, and deserve proper support and compassion in order to thrive during the postpartum period. I am deeply honored to support women through this transformative time, acknowledging the immense strength, resilience, and love they bring into the world. I strive my best to deliver holistic and comprehensive support in all areas Mothers may need, from physical recovery and emotional well-being to feeding guidance and newborn care, ensuring they feel empowered, heard, and cared for every step of the way. You've got this, and I've got you.

Education & Certifications

DONA Internationally Trained

Certified with B.E.S.T. Doula Training

PAIL Advocate (Pregnancy and Infant Loss)

DONA International is one of the most respected doula organizations in the world, known for setting high standards in evidence-based care for families and ongoing continuing education (my favorite part about it, I love collecting additional skills!). I completed DONA's comprehensive postpartum doula training, where I studied newborn care, feeding support, emotional and physical recovery, family adjustment, and the practical skills needed to nurture new parents during the early weeks throughout the first year. This training gave me a strong foundation for offering hands-on, heart centered care.

Recognized in all 50 states and internationally, BEST is where intuition meets evidence and teaches doulas how to make a real difference in our communities. They are committed to diversifying the birth world, creating inclusive spaces and ensuring every family has access to compassionate, informed care. It is my goal to improve your postpartum experience with the most thoughtful and personal care possible.

I want you to thrive, not just survive. If you are grieving the loss of a child, you need support. You are still postpartum. I am extensively trained on the following regarding loss & other hardships:

  • Miscarriage & stillbirth

  • Fatal diagnoses

  • NICU babies

  • Maternal mortality

  • Pregnancy after loss

  • Sibling and Grandparent grief

  • Children born with illness

  • Loss of custody

  • Pre and post abortion care
